Javesh A Parekh
Jayesh Parekh is one of the Founders of Sony Entertainment Television, a major cable & satellite television channel launched in India in collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment, a division of Sony Corporation of Japan.
He is also a Founder and Director of MobiApps (wireless M2M start-up) and Asvathaa (animation start-up), and on the Board of iSyndica (cloud computingstart-up).
Jayesh is on the Board of Song Investment Management Company, a fund owned by Soros Economic Development Fund, Omidyar Network, and Google, which invests in SMEs in India that meet social objectives. He is also the founder of ProPoor, a non-profit portal for NGOs (Non Governmental Organizations) in South Asia, and now a service of CharityFocus. Jayesh served on the Board of United Way International for 6 years. He takes keen interest in assisting non-profit organizations - Manav Sadhna, GramShree,SevaCafe and LIFE in Gujarat, India.
Jayesh is an active angel investor, with investments in various Venture Capital Funds in Silicon Valley and start-up enterprises across the broad technology and media space. Prior to the above ventures he spent 13 years at IBM in various positions based out of Houston (USA) and Singapore, where he was involved in technical, sales and marketing roles.
Jayesh holds a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from MS University in Baroda, India and a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, USA. He is a TiE Charter Member and an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at INSEAD. Jayesh and his family live in Singapore. He is a Governing Council member of Globsyn Business School in India, and on the Advisory Council of Asian Institute of Family Business (AIFB) in India.
