Bhavna Thakur
Bhavna is the Head of the Transaction Execution Group for India for Citigroup Global Markets, a group which is primarily responsible for executing all equity and debt capital markets products.
Bhavna has worked on numerous corporate finance transactions during her twelve year career in the finance industry. Prior to joining Citi, Bhavna worked with Morgan Stanley in Mumbai leading transaction execution for capital markets and mergers and acquisitions and prior to that, as a corporate finance lawyer at Davis Polk and Wardwell and Paul Weiss, in New York and in London. Bhavna has been providing advice on Indian capital markets offerings since 2002.
During the course of her career Bhavna has represented both domestic (Indian) and foreign entities, investment banks and private equity and hedge funds in their mergers and acquisitions, cross-border transactions and capital markets activity. Advice to investors has included public takeovers, PIPE deals, private placements, structuring world-wide investment structures and exit strategies. In addition, Bhavna has provided legal and business advice related to transactions by portfolio companies and board representation and corporate governance issues related to portfolio companies. Her marquee private equity clients include General Atlantic, Citigroup Private Equity, Oakhill Capital and Caxton Eiseman. Among the prominent deals Bhavna has worked on include Warburg Pincus's acquisition of shares of Bharti, General Atlantic's stake in Jubilant and Hexaware and capital markets offerings by premier Indian companies such as, Maruti, ONGC, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors, L&T, Hindalco, SBI, NTPC, NMDC etc.
Bhavna has a bachelors degree in law from National Law School of India University, Bangalore and a masters in law from Columbia University, New York.
