Naveen gupta
Naveen Gupta has over 18 years of experience in IT industry, where he has led development
and marketing of many leading products and solutions.
He is currently Director with Cisco Systems, with responsibilities for $150M global
relationship of Cisco with one of its Strategic Partner. In this role, he leads development
of Go to Market plans for jointsolutions, especially in the area of data center and
applications. Before Cisco, Naveen was with IBM, where he was running pre-sales team for
software group, with revenue target of $100M. Naveen also has entrepreneurial past –
he founded an online education companyin 1999-2001 in San Jose. The company raised
$7M from VC’s and was sold for $27M.
By way of education, Naveen has MBA from Wharton School of Business in Philadelphia, and
B. Tech from IIT-Delhi. Naveen is married to Aradhana and they are blessed with two
girls– 13 and 5 years old. Naveen is active badminton and bridge player. Naveen is keen to
invest, mentor companies in software and solutions space.
Motivational Statement
As a former resident of Silicon Valley and former entrepreneur, I believe the life of our
industry is not driven by large corporate like Cisco and Oracle but by hundreds of startups
that create next generation of markets and continuously challenge the Goliath. This is what
differentiates Hi-tech industry from Detroit and leads to long term success.
My goals with angel network are to invest in, with money as well as time, in startups in
online & cloud based solutions targeting consumers and SMB businesses. I am looking for
companies with strongly differentiated story, defensible position, large markets and high
caliber management. In addition to investment, I am happy to help high potential companies
with my product marketing & business planning skills. In return, I expect my gains will be
not only financial but more importantly keeping myself current with the industry.
I am comfortable with the network’s expectations of minimum of $50K of investment each year.
