Mr. Harish Mehta, an Electrical Engineering graduate College of Engineering, Pune and Masters in Computer Science from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute, USA, is Chairman and Managing Director of Onward Technologies Limited, one of India’s fastest growing independent engineering design services and Solutions Company.
A company with a global footprint, OTL has offices in USA, UK, Germany, Japan and Singapore. Its development centers are located in Mumbai and Pune. The company employs over 400 engineers in mechanical engineering design, testing and simulation. OTL’s application domain expertise includes BIW, Interiors/Exteriors, Seating, Engine, Power Transmission, Mechanism and Structures.
Onward eServices Ltd (OeSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of OTL, focusing on providing software solutions and services to the BFSI segment, was established in 2003. Leveraging three strategically located Development Centers in India; OeSL is an organization with over 400 professionals, 70 customers and 61 offices in nineteen states across India.
Mr. Mehta promoted Onward Novell a 50:50 Joint venture company with Novell Inc in 1994 (world’s largest networking company at that time) and profitably managed for 12 years competing against global giants including Microsoft. Onward Novell worked with 2500 resellers, 75,000 Certified Novell Professionals and a 100,000 Netware sites in India. Onward Novell helped set up Novell R@D center at Bangalore in 1994.
Mr. Mehta is also co-Promoter of Infinity venture Fund. Infinity Venture Fund is an Institutionalized Angel Fund aimed at promoting IT entrepreneurs.
Mr. Mehta was also the co-founder and Jet. Managing Director of Hinditron’s Computer Group and One of the chief architects for realizing Hinditron - Digital Joint Venture in India.
Mr. Mehta has been the founder member of NASSCOM (National Association of Software & Service Companies) and former Chairman of Nasscom. He was Chairman of selection committee for selecting Nasscom President in 1991, 2001 and 2007. He is a trustee of Nasscom Foundation.
He was the first President of TiE – Mumbai Chapter. TiE is a non-profit global network of entrepreneurs and professionals, established to foster entrepreneurship and nurture entrepreneurs. He was a trustee of TiE Global (2001-2004) and a member of the Advisory Council India for American India Foundation.
He has successfully chaired Major Indian and International conferences. He is also the Managing Trustee of Trust to Promote Advanced Technologies in India. (TPATI)
In 1998, Computer Society of India (CSI), at their 33rd Annual Convention conferred their fellowship to Mr. Mehta for his services to CSI.
In the year 1994 he was conferred with the CEO of the year award at an international seminar organized by N M Institute of Management and TATA HRD Network.
He has also been conferred with the Distinguished Alumnus award in 1995 from Pune Engineering College.
Mr. Mehta was honored with Life time Achievement award for HR excellence by Deccan Herald in 2004.
