R.K. Amar Babu is the Managing Director of Lenovo India, having been appointed to this role in November 2007. He is responsible for driving the overall business and growth of the brand in India. Before Lenovo, Amar worked with Idea Cellular as Chief Service Delivery Officer and Intel Technology (I) Pvt. Ltd, where he led Intel’s business in South Asia, along with driving the sales and marketing functions. Amar has also spent close to a decade at HCL Infosystems Ltd. where he served as Vice President (Operations), leading the growth and success of the consumer, channel and retail business and prior to this, he was with Citibank and HCL-Hewlett Packard Ltd. In November 2013, he was appointed as President of MAIT the apex body representing India’s IT hardware, training and R&D services sectors. In his role, he will help to generate more investment towards local manufacturing and drive PC penetration in India.
Amar has over 2 decades of multi-functional experience, of which over 15 years have been in leadership roles. A Management Post Graduate from XLRI, Jamshedpur. Amar holds an Engineering degree in Electrical & Electronics from PSG Tech, Coimbatore.
