Anthony Thomas (Tony) is a Corporate Officer and the Chief Information Officer at Nissan Motor Corporation. In this role, Tony is responsible for Information Technology, Information Systems and Information Security for all brands of Nissan including Nissan, Infiniti and Datsun across the globe. He also is responsible for driving the Digital Transformation for Nissan and alignment with partners Renault and Mitsubishi Motor Corporation.
Prior to joining Nissan, Tony was the Global CIO for General Electric Corporation, GE. In his role, Tony worked closely with GE business leaders and partners across all regions outside the United States, to develop local strategies and in-region requirements into scalable in-market solutions. Tony was instrumental in driving GE Digital transformation and global shared services vision.
A 1991 alumnus of College of Engineering Trivandrum, Tony worked at Vodafone, Citigroup, Ernst & Young, etc., among other leading organizations, across the globe, prior to Nissan and GE. He held leadership roles in Management Consulting, Information Technology, and Business Operations; and has made many significant contributions to Information Technology.
Tony is a mentor at Columbia University School of Professional Studies in its Executive M.S. in Technology Management Program. He is on board as an independent advisor and mentor to multiple organizations and Governments on Digital Transformation, Start-up and Innovation. He is a member of Kerala Government High Power IT committee for the Chief Minister, has been a core member of Reserve Bank of India’s Technical Committee on Mobile Banking; core member of CII National Committees; ASSOCHAM National Councils; and Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), among others.
Tony is recognized as a luminary in his field of technology, leadership and innovation, and a recipient of many industry honors and awards including CIO Power List, LinkedIn Power Profiles, CIO 100 Hall of Fame, etc.
Tony is an active member in the startup ecosystem as an advisor and a mentor, founding member of CIO Angel Network (CAN), a member of Indian Angel Network (IAN) and a Private Equity Investor.
