Dr. Gun Nidhi Dalmia

Dr. Gun Nidhi Dalmia was brought up in a business and industry environment since childhood.

His father, the late Ramkrishna Dalmia, was one of the top three industrialists of India for several decades. He was a pioneer in several new industrial fields, and by dint of hard work and innovation, rose as a self-made Industrialist to the top, in a career spanning both British India and Independent India (since 1947). His major interests included Cement, Chemicals, Jute, Paper, Textiles, Sugar, Aviation, Insurance, Newspapers, Dairy Products, Bakery Products, Electric Supply and Banks, to name only some. His business empire split up into a number of independent groups within the family.

Business Experience
i) Executive Director of Dalmia Biscuits Pvt. Ltd., Rajpura-140401, Punjab from 27.07.1970 to 13.02.1988. Employment : about 800. Producing biscuits, cookies, wafers, bread, confectionery, etc.
ii) Executive Director of Dalmia Dadri Cement Ltd. from June 1974 to June 1976. Employment: about 3700.
iii) Chairman and Managing Director of Edward Keventer(s) Pvt. Ltd. from 1975 to 2005. Factory producing Dairy Products – milk shakes, pasteurised milk, condensed milk, milk powder, Casein, Ice-cream, butter and ghee.

Chambers of Commerce
i) Was President in the 1980’s for 2 years of the Indian Confectionery Manufacturers Association.
ii) Was President in the 1980’s for 2 years of the All India Bread Manufacturers Association.
iii) Was in the Executive Committee of Federation of Biscuit Manufacturers of India for several years in the 1970’s and 80’s.

Academic
a) Owner/President Management Programme which is an Advanced Management Programme at the Harvard Business School.
b) Ph.D. in Strategic Management from University of Rajasthan, Jaipur.
c) M.A., Oxford University.
d) B.A., (P.P.E. – Philosophy, Politics & Economics) Honours, Oxford University.
e) Degree Elementaire, from the Sorbonne (University of Paris), France.
f) B.A. Economics (Honours), from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, Delhi. (Got admission into I.I.T. but decided to go to St. Stephen’s)
g) Schooling – St. Columba’s School, New Delhi.

Languages
Fluent in English, Hindi and French. Knowledge also of Sanskrit and Polish.

i) Six weeks training in various parts of Finland in Management and Dairy Technology with M/s. Valio Finnish National Co-operative Dairies’ Association, Helsinki, Finland.
ii) One month training in Management and Dairy Technology with M/s Bergensmeiriet, Bergen, Norway.
iii) Senior Level Business Management training with M/s. Express Dairy Co. Ltd., London.
iv) Several Management courses of All India Management Association (AIMA) at Srinagar & elsewhere, Administrative Staff College of India at Bella Vista, Hyderabad and IIM Ahmedabad.
