Dr. Amit Gupta

Dr. Amit Gupta, Chairman, JIMS, has had a brilliant academic career. He is a Commerce Graduate from the prestigious Shri Ram College of Commerce and an alumnus of IIFT where he did his Masters in International Business. Dr. Gupta completed his Doctorate degree from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi. A leading visionary and philanthropist, he has in the past two decades made immense contributions to the development of management and technical education in India. Under his able stewardship the JIMS group of Institutes have made great strides and risen to the forefront of excellence in professional education. Today JIMS is ranked among the top 20 Business Schools in India. He is a member of many Committees of Indraprastha University and holds membership of various national educational associations, such as, National HRD Network, All India Management Association, Association of Indian Management Schools etc. He is actively involved in these committees for developing management and technical education in India. Dr. Amit Gupta was recently selected among 2000 “Outstanding Intellectuals of the 21st Century” by International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, England. He was also conferred the prestigious title of “Man of the Year-2003” by the American Bibliographical Institute for his overall accomplishments. In the field of professional education the contribution to Society. The School of Economic Studies, New Delhi has also awarded Dr. Amit Gupta the Shiksha Ratan Award and Gold Medal for his outstanding contribution to the development of education in India. As Chairman of JIMS and also DART 5, which is a Chapter of the International Rotary Club, he was responsible for undertaking a number of social initiatives for training and development of needy men, women and children belongings to EWS of our Society: Community projects for construction of classrooms of Schools under FTE (Freedom through Education) in association with Samarth Shiksha Samiti (Project cost: Rs. 40 Lakhs) Organisation of Free Eye Catract Operations for poor and needy people of Delhi in association with Eye hospitals such as Venu Eye Hospital, New Delhi. Skills training of hundreds of poor and underprivileged men, women and children of EWS in Computers skills and sewing and cooking classes etc. Annual education scholarships for children of poor and needy parents belonging to EWS. Blood Donation camps in association with Rotary Blood Bank Go-Green Projects involving adoption of traffic islands in Nehru Place and Kalkaji and Planting of Hundreds of Saplings in adjacent localities of G K – 1, Kalkaji etc.
