Gautam Suri

Mr. Gautam Suri is a B.Tech (Mechanical) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (1974 batch) and is presently the Founder Director & Chief Technology Officer of Interarch Building Products Private Ltd., a 500-crore, ISO 9001:1994 company. Besides this, he is one of the most acclaimed acoustical consultants in India. Mr. Suri has had has a dynamic career graph over the years in two distinct and equally successful spheres representative of his strength as a leading entrepreneur as well as one of India’s most sought after professional engineering consultants in his field. Over the years, he has applied his technical acumen equally in both of these roles throughout remaining true to his core and roots; that to contribute towards the building and development of a New Age India. Mr Suri has been an entrepreneur from day one. He never took a job, and started off as a consultant in acoustics, joining his father’s practice. He achieved considerable success in his chosen field. Some milestones in this period include the design and installation, as well as detailed engineering of drive systems, for the largest operable acoustic partition in the world, set up at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium for the Asian Games 1982. In 1983, he started a manufacturing business, Interarch Building Products Pvt Ltd., together with a friend of his who is a CA.

On Interarch Interarch was founded by Gautam Suri and his friend, Arvind Nanda in 1984 and today it has state of art manufacturing facilities for pre-engineered metal building systems, engineered metal roofing and cladding systems in Greater Noida (UP), Pantnagar, Kicha (Uttrakhand) and Chennai. These 4 plants enable Interarch with a combined capacity of over 150,000 MT per annum of steel building structures and over 40,000 MT per annum for its Tracdek Roof & Wall systems. The company has a turnover of over 500 Cr. and over 1500 employees. Interarch’s capabilities extend all over India with nation wide sales and project support offices spread over 20 locations. With his professional engineering background, Mr. Suri has led Interarch to become a leading service and solution provider in steel construction. The company pioneered engineered steel building and construction which over the years received wide acceptance including several manufacturing plants of Industry stalwarts like Reliance, TATA Motors, Asian Paints, BHEL and the most recent Delhi T3 Airport terminal. In many ways, Interarch has changed the face of metal construction in India. It introduced, as a pioneer, in India for the first time: i) Coated aluminium false ceilings in 1984 ii) Designer window coverings in 1986 iii) Coated metal roofing systems for the first time in 1991, which are a construction standard today iv) Pre-engineered steel buildings in 1996 Interarch introduced pre-engineered steel buildings in India in 1996, another first in the construction industry. This form of construction is today the preferred method for almost any kind of industrial/commercial construction. A key feature was that Interarch has had no foreign collaboration during its existence. Gautam developed all its product lines, which is indeed a unique engineering achievement. Interarch has changed the face of metal construction in India in the last 27 years, and is today a market leader in a field with many multi-national competitors. On Professional Consulting and Education Mr. Suri has also been a consulting engineer for the last 37 years and has designed acoustics facilities for over 1500 projects including several prestigious projects like Vigyan Bhavan, India Habitat Centre, Delhi Vidhan Sabha, Kerala Legislature Complex, Madhya Pradesh Legislature Complex, Delhi Airport (DIAL), Mumbai Airport (MIAL), Lucknow Airport, several Five-Star Hotels, various Convention Centre etc. He is a member of various international and national bodies including Acoustical Society of America, Acoustical Society of India. He has also been a visiting faculty at School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, Sushant School of Art and Architecture, Gurgaon and TVB School of Habitat Studies, New Delhi. He has written and presented several papers in seminars in the field of Acoustics, Audio and Noise Control. He is also associated with various Committees of the Bureau of Indian Standards and has spearheaded revision of various Standards from time to time as Convenor of the Committee on Acoustics.
