Was inducted in the Company’s Career Technical Development Program –worked in various chemical plants of the company in products like PVC, Polyurethanes, TDI, Caustic Soda. Urea, Ammonia Plants. 1970-2012 –Pearl Group Returned to India in 1970 and started a business under the name and style of PEARL POLYMERS LTD The company initially started in area of PVC Compounding and then later branched out to Blow Molding, Injection Molding, Blown Films In 1983 the company pioneered the introduction of Polyester PET Bottles and Containers in India under the brand of PEARLPET. It has today 5 manufacturing locations in India. The present turnover of the company is Rs 250 crores per annum. I retired from the Board of this Company as VCMD in June 2012.
In 1993 the PEARL Group of which I was a founder set up India’s first dedicated plant on Kurkumbh (Pune) for the manufacture of Bottle Grade Polyester Chips with a capacity of 24000 MT per annum. I continue to be on the Board of this company awaiting an exit through entry of a strategic investor or otherwise. The company had a turnover of Rs 180 crores prior to shut down of operations. This plant is lying closed since the last 12 months because of the economies of scale and reduced margins. Today Plants are being set up with a capacity of 300000 MT per annum. Being a first generation Family Business I have also had exposure of managing Apparel Exports Business and managed the business for almost 10 years between 1976-1993. Have been responsible for generating new Business proposals in the Group. Evaluated projects like Vacuum Metalizing, Polyester Films. Micro Motors, PVC Pipes, Nylon and Polyester Mooring Ropes.
