Over the past 14 years, Ian has worked in roles involving investments, Corporate Strategy, Product Management and Sales & Marketing in the Banking, Telecom and FMCG industries. Ian is currently a Director in Standard Chartered Private Equity (SCPE) Advisory Pvt Ltd and is based in Mumbai. As part of his role, he identifies opportunities for SCPE to make minority equity investments in high-growth companies in a variety of sectors across India.
Ian was part of the Regional CEO’s Office for South Asia (covering India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal) at Standard Chartered Bank from 2011 to 2014. In this role, he was responsible for business planning, strategy, governance and risk management for the Bank’s business across the region. In an earlier role (2008-2010) in the retail division, he was responsible for developing and driving the Premium Banking customer proposition across India. In an earlier role with Hindustan Unilever, Ian handled sales and marketing for Sangam Direct, a pioneering venture in the online grocery and supermarket space. Between 2003-06, he was responsible for 'Walky', a wireless desk phone with 1.8 Mn customers pan-India that was part of Tata Teleservices.
Ian is an Electronics & Telecommunications Engineer from Mumbai University and graduated from INSEAD in July 2008 where he did his Masters in Business Administration.
