Nagendra is a member of Wipro’s leadership team, and currently the global president of two key strategic business units of Wipro Limited—cloud and IT infrastructure services (CIS) and digital operations and platforms (DOP). He is based in Plano, Texas, where he manages an operation of around 97,000 employees across fifty global delivery locations, global P&L approximately $3.4 billion in revenues and helps global clients accelerate their digital journeys. He is an important member of the Executive Committee, the apex leadership forum of the company. Over the last four years, Nag has transformed the DOP unit into a robust profitable business doubling revenues and delivering industry-leading profitability.
Successful Transformation of M&A
Nag has extensive experience in integration of M&A, valuation, business transformation and turnarounds. He has been instrumental in key M&As of Wipro the $450 million acquisition of Health Plan Services (HPS)—a US-based healthcare public/private exchange focused on the Affordable Care Act and the turn around of Opus, a mortgage-backed securities risk assessment provider. He also played a key role in redefining the service delivery model of Wipro Infocrossing—a $600 million acquisition in the datacenter arena. In the past three years, under his leadership HPS has saved $100 million through platform modernization and organizational restructuring. Most recently, Nag played a pivotal role in the outsourcing of AON-Hewitt’s global operations (now Alight Solutions) to Wipro, a $1.5 billion deal. He successfully integrated 9,000 employees into Wipro and created a global platform for group insurance, healthcare, retirement, and wealth. He has successfully led Wipro Ventures’ (Wipro’s venture capital fund) investment in Tradeshift—a global procurement technology company. Tradeshift is currently valued at $1.1 billion.
Wipro journey
With more than thirty years of global industry experience, spanning Europe and the United States, Nag offers significant understanding of a variety of industries and technologies. He has been with Wipro for over twenty years, and in that time has been instrumental in starting many new businesses and successfully transforming challenging ones. Prior to his current role, Nag served as the global head of the insurance unit and his other previous roles include Head of Wipro Mobility Solutions ( now Wipro Digital), Co-leader for Wipro’s data center business- Wipro Infocrossing, global head of sales for Wipro BPO, the head of telecoms Europe and Head of Ecommerce solutions –Europe.
Prior to Wipro
Nag started his career as an entrepreneur and an equity dealer broker, and ran his own stock broking firm for over four years. He later worked with Tata Consultancy Services, and ran large complex change programs as program manager and delivery leader.
Interests and social causes
He currently plays an active role with non profits, promoting STEM education, cross cultural integration , grooming young entrepreneurs, and enhancing the American education system. In the past he supported as a member of the business and industry council and worked alongside Mayor of Frisco, TX. He was also a member on the board of trustees at Frisco Sister Cities International—a non-profit citizen diplomacy network founded by President Eisenhower, that seeks stronger economic and cultural ties at the municipal level between international communities and US.
Academic qualifications Nag is a Nuffic Fellow in International relations , Masters in Law from Amsterdam Law School, University of Amsterdam, with a specialization in international trade law (LLM). He holds a Masters in Business Administration along with bachelor of law and bachelor of science (physics) degrees.
As an early member of Indian Angel Network , Nag invested in over 25 start ups and has mentored many entrepreneurs in US and India. He has several successful exits. He is also a member of Central Texas Angel Network. Presently his passion is around science and technology where he is playing a critical role in grooming India's scientists as Enterpreneurs.
