Piyush Shah

Piyush has been a pioneer in the internet, mobile and instant-messaging industries. He has more than 20 years’ experience as a technologist, architect, entrepreneur, and management consultant, with focus on the development of disruptive technologies that have led to new business models in the internet and telecommunication industries. Piyush was most recently director of new business – emerging markets at Nokia, where he oversaw the development of new global consumer services focused on the next billion internet users. He has been at the forefront of new service creation as the lead developer of Match.com, founding chief technology officer of Jabber.com, founder of Leverage (acquired by Diamond Technology Partners) and marketing advisor to LinkedIn.

Previously he was an enterprise-strategy consultant at Microsoft, working in the consumer internet group. His work covered the creation of enterprise architectures for the largest internet companies such as Yahoo, Google, Myspace and eBay. Piyush has developed marketing analysis and product strategies for companies such as Salesforce.com, LinkedIn, and startups in the VOIP and Video-on-Demand sectors. Piyush holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (USA) and a bachelor’s of computer science and mechanical engineering (honors) from Stony Brook University (USA). Piyush is an active angel investor at the Indian Angel Network in New Delhi where he mentors startups and has led and invested in Druva (Enterprise storage), Jigsee (mobile video), SignalChip(telecom), Globester (travel). Piyush is a charter member of TIE New Delhi.
