Pratik Agarwal has spent the last 10 years working in various roles in finance, from investment banking to private equity investing, across markets in the US & India. He is currently Vice President at New Vernon Capital, an investment management firm with over $1 billion of assets under management in India, where he is responsible for all areas of Real Estate Investing.
Pratik graduated with Honors from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA in 2005 where he majored in Electrical and Computer Engineering and was also awarded an additional major in Business Administration. After his graduation, he joined Merrill Lynch in New York as an Analyst in their Real Estate Investment Banking group where he worked on almost $50 billion of real estate M&A transactions. He was part of the team that solely advised the sale of Equity Office Properties to Blackstone for $39 billion in 2007, which till date is the largest real estate transaction ever completed.
In 2007, Pratik joined Rockpoint Group, a real estate private equity fund based in Boston, as an Associate where he was involved with their U.S. investment and asset management activities. While at Rockpoint, he worked on transactions totalling over $1 billion in equity invested. Some of his investments include 299 Park Avenue and Park Avenue Plaza in New York and the Newton Marriott in Boston.
Pratik moved back to India in 2011 and joined New Vernon shortly after. At New Vernon, he is responsible for their Real Estate investing activities and has helped put together a strong portfolio of commercial assets across the country totalling over 6 million square feet.
Pratik is an active member of the YNG (YPO NextGen) organization in Mumbai and coming from a successful business family background, he has aspirations of starting a business venture of his own in the future. His interest areas include technology, real estate and apparel/fashion.
