Siddharth Bindra

Born and brought up in India, Siddharth Bindra is the Managing Director of BIBA. After finishing his M.Com from Sydenham College, Mumbai, he pursued higher studies in Futures, Options and Financial Derivatives, and Capital Markets & Investments from Harvard. Currently, he has over 18 years of experience in the Textile and Apparel Industry.

Siddharth joined the family business in 1997, with a primary objective to convert the ‘home grown’ product to a national brand ‘Biba’, capitalizing on the retail boom in the country. In a country where ethnic wear is predominantly unorganized, it has been Siddharth’s keen understanding of the Indian consumer and of the prevalent retail scenario, which has transformed BIBA into the country’s most loved ethnic wear brand. ‘Biba' became an apparel industry trailblazer, singlehandedly creating the “women’s ethnicwear” as a category in modern retail.

Siddharth successfully pioneered many concepts in Indian retail. Biba was the first brand to innovate and roll out the shop in shop concept in multi brand outlets such as Pantaloon and Shoppers stop in 1999. Biba also the pioneered Bollywood merchandising in India with its first integration in “Na Tum Janno Na Hum”, followed by other exclusive partnerships with movies such as “Devdas”, “Baghban”, “Hulchul”, & “Bhoothnath” amongst many others.

In fact, today the company enjoys leadership position and is by far the largest ethnic wear retail chain in the country. With the constant endeavour to expand the business, product profile and consumer reach, Siddharth signed up with designer Manish Arora with majority stake in ‘Indian by Manish Arora’ brand, a JV with acclaimed designer Rohit Bal & has recently acquired a substantial minority stake in the designer label Anju Modi; thus marking BIBA’s foray in the bridal and luxury ethnic wear category.

He has also launched a fashion value brand called Rangriti, to enhance the brands presence at lower price points and to be able to cater to a large segment that is still purchasing from the unorganized markets.

BIBA today has over 200 exclusive stores present in over 75 cities across India. It is also available in large format stores such as Shoppers Stop, Lifestyle, Pantaloons and Central etc.

Siddharth is an avid Cricketer and he lives in New Delhi with his wife and two children.
