Subba R Dukkipati is the Co-founder and Managing Partner of Pragnya Group. He began investing in the Indian Real Estate sector after his return to India in 2003, after having pursued an international finance and banking career which spanned over 20 years and several continents. Between 2003 and 2005, Subba invested in the development of several ‘Built-to-Suit’ IT Parks for the outsourcing arm of HSBC in collaboration with Larsen & Turbo (L&T), which were highly successful projects. In 2005, Subba led Pragnya Group in successfully raising its first real estate Private Equity fund – Pragnya Fund-I, with focussed investments in real estate opportunities in India and Sri Lanka. Thereafter, he has been spearheading the Fund’s investments and today, the Fund has in its portfolio several high quality & well-located commercial and residential developments in India and Sri Lanka, delivering a total built up space of over 12 million square feet. With the first Fund fully invested, Subba led the Group in successfully raising its second real estate fund – Pragnya Fund-II and is currently investing from the Fund. Subba spent a substantial part of his finance and banking career with Citigroup where his last assignment was as Country Treasurer of the Bank in Tokyo, Japan. During his stint with Citigroup, he held the position of Managing Director, Global Markets and was also a member of the Managing Committee of Citibank, Japan. Prior to that, Subba worked with Grindlays Bank and Commonwealth Bank of Australia in various capacities.
Subba graduated from Loyola College in Chennai in 1979 and completed his Masters in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi in 1981. Subba is also an active angel investor and currently has angel investments in HeyMath, a company in the education space, and Oremus, a back office services company. In addition Subba will also look at investments in Retail, Health and Entertainment.
