.An IIT Kanpur graduate, Udai is a filmmaker and a technology enthusiast. Developing a strong inclination towards technology early in college life, he went on to intern with the renowned MIT Media lab based out of Cambridge, USA and also did a stint with Arnold and Richter Cine Technik (ARRI Cameras) in Germany, where he was engaged in the then-developing dynamic that lies at the juncture of technology and the art of filmmaking. Graduating in 2005, Udai started his professional career with Microsoft Research India, Bangalore. There, he was one of the founders of the Technology for Emerging Markets research group that focused on developing technology to bring about a cardinal change in socio-economic development. Udai holds two US patents in his name for efficient and cost-effective solutions for education in rural India. Some of his papers were published at top ACM/IEEE conferences and have been used as course reading in some US universities as well. Udai, as keen as he is towards the functioning of rural India, also spent time in rural M.P., working closely with Jyotiraditya Scindias 2009 election campaign focusing on using technology for effective campaigning. Post that, Udai decided to shift fulltime to film. He was the First Assistant Director to the veteran director Sudhir Mishra and worked on movies like Inkaar and Yeh Saali Zindagi (the first digitally-shot film in Bollywood), with some of the top names in the industry. He was also the Associate Director of Airlift, starring Akshay Kumar, which was subject to both critical and commercial success. He is currently writing and directing a new feature film, and consulting on some digital streaming series. Udai even undertook a Solo backpacking trip over a year, to 14 countries carrying nothing but a backpack, a camera and a guitar.
