Varun has completed his Bachelors in Engineering with Business Management from Kings College London and the Family Managed Business Program from SP Jain, Mumbai.
He is a Director at the Jayashree Group, which is into the manufacturing of Rubber, Plastics and Metal tube assemblies for Automotive, Commercial Vehicles, Off Road, Earth Moving and Engineering applications for the domestic industry as well as exports. Established in 1983, the group has its headquarters in Pune and an R&D Unit that is recognized by the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. The group has a pan India presence with 15 manufacturing plants spread across Gurgaon, Haridwar, Pune, Indore, Hosur and Chennai.
After completing his education, he joined the group and got the opportunity to head the Hosur and Chakan (Pune) projects from ground up. This gave him a lot of insight and experience about the discipline, systems and development practices that go into any new project. Since then, he has been responsible for all greenfield projects for the group. Varun has moved on to the corporate level and enjoys the challenge of working on new projects whilst building and managing them.
Varun introduced Angel investing into the family investments portfolio, which had focused mainly on real state and market securities. Having made his first Investment at the age of 24, Varun then got connected with LetsVenture and Ah!Ventures. He is keen on meeting and working with the enterprising new generation entrepreneurs and is open to mentoring startups and facilitating them in their journey. His habit of keeping updated with the latest news and developments, while sifting through it to identify relevant data, helps him understand the startup ecosystem better.
His portfolio consists of investments in the Online to Offline, Education, Aquaculture, Tech and Mobile payments space. Apart from these verticals, he is on the lookout for interesting ideas in sectors that focus on Water, Agriculture and Waste management among others.
