Born in Kolkata, Vikram grew up in New Delhi where he completed his high school education from Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram. He then went on to pursue his higher studies in the U.S.
After completing his education in Finance and Economics at Santa Clara University in California, Vikram Puri went on to pursue a career in Finance. A registered NYSE Series 7 & 63 broker, Vikram spent the next 5 years first as a stock broker on Wall Street with Gunn Allen Financial in New York, then at the Structured Finance and CMBS desks at Helix Financial and then at the real estate desk at Wachovia Bank in Charlotte, North Carolina; gaining experience in US capital markets and Real Estate Banking.
In 2007, Vikram changed career paths to Hospitality. His first assignment was at The Astor Hotel in Kolkata, a landmark heritage hotel. While the hotel was operational and profitable it required capital investment to redevelop the asset. Vikram undertook an ambitious renovation of the 110 year old Heritage Building and restored the Astor hotel to be counted amongst the finest Boutique Heritage Hotels in Eastern India. The hotel re-launched full services in September 2014. The Astor Kolkata has 2 award-winning restaurants, PLUSH Lounge & Bar and the evergreen Kebab-e-que that has recently completed 30 years of operations.
Whilst heading operations at The Astor, Vikram started construction of his second hotel in Agra in 2009, The Doubletree by Hilton - Agra that opened in December 2014. This 104-room, 5 star hotel overlooks the Taj Mahal and is already considered the finest hotel in the city.
With plans to expand within the hospitality industry through the acquisition and green field approach, Vikram at present, is focused on establishing a management and hotel consulting company of his own.
Besides interests in the Hospitality sector, Vikram also runs an NBFC in New Delhi. His interests include music and Animal Welfare.
